Ace Hotel Brooklyn guests can now seamlessly and securely unlock their room and locations throughout the hotel property with a simple tap of their iPhone or Apple Watch

Ace Hotel Brooklyn guests can now add their room key to Apple Wallet on their iPhone and Apple Watch and simply tap their device to unlock their room. This feature is enabled by Canary Contactless Check-In, which allows users to let guests seamlessly check-in on their own mobile devices.

Ace Hotel room keys in Apple Wallet help deliver an easy and contactless experience from check-in to check out, while also providing additional security and privacy benefits for guests. Once a room key is added and activated in Apple Wallet, guests can hold their device near the door’s NFC-enabled lock to seamlessly access key card-protected areas. With Express Mode, guests don’t need to unlock their device to use their room key in Apple Wallet - they can simply tap and enter. If an iPhone needs to be charged, guests can still use the device to unlock their room or common areas with automatic Power Reserve.

Adding an Ace Hotel room key to Wallet is easy. Using Canary Contactless Check-In, guests can select the link in their reservation email and follow the on-screen instructions to add a room key in Apple Wallet. Upon completing check in, and receiving a room assignment, their key will be automatically activated and ready to be used on their iPhone and Apple Watch.

If an Ace Hotel guest needs to change rooms, extend a stay or access late checkout, the hotel can update the guest’s room key in Apple Wallet remotely, bypassing the need to visit the front desk. When it’s time to check out, guests can simply do so through Canary’s Smart Checkout online. The guest’s room key in Apple Wallet will then be remotely deactivated and archived in Apple Wallet.

Room keys in Apple Wallet are stored on the device and take full advantage of the privacy and security built into iPhone and Apple Watch. When or where a guest uses a room key in Apple Wallet is never shared with Apple or stored on Apple servers. If an iPhone or Apple Watch is misplaced, the guest can promptly use the Find My app to lock the device and help locate it.

Ace Hotel’s room keys in Apple Wallet are supported by Canary Technologies’ smart hospitality systems, Assa Abloy door locks and credential systems.
